At Gainsborough Joinery, we manufacture high quality bespoke kitchens and joinery, including purpose made sash and casement windows, staircases, internal and external doors, conservatories, orangeries and outbuildings as well as traditional handmade interiors and bespoke study and office furniture for discerning customers. We also specialise in matching the colour, style and timber of existing joinery.

As a small company, we pride ourselves on our personal and professional approach, which is reflected in the quality of our work. All our joinery is hand made by craftsmen in our own joinery shop in Harlow and is designed and produced to our customers’ own requirements.

Gainsborough Joinery has evolved from a small joinery and cabinet making workshop started in the 1970s and today has an impressive portfolio of prestigious projects.

We select the finest raw materials, including oak, maple, cherry and walnut, all FSC certified from managed forests, from which our skilled and highly experienced tradesmen craft joinery of the very best quality.

You will find all our people a pleasure to work with too. Our installation team are in-house trained in every facet of their work, to produce kitchens and joinery of the highest quality. You will find them helpful, courteous and sensitive from your initial enquiry right through to installation.

Whilst our workshop is equipped with modern machinery, we believe hand assembly and finishing is vital to the production of quality cabinets and joinery. Every kitchen is different, individually designed and manufactured for our customers’ personal satisfaction.

BESPOKE KITCHENS
We manufacture kitchens from a variety of woods including oak, maple, cherry and walnut. Every one is individually hand made to your specification and, as you will see from the photographs, are suited to small, quality homes right through to highly prestigious properties, whether new build, period properties or refurbishment projects.

The style of kitchen is down to you, from traditional to contemporary and modern. Our design team will advise on every aspect, down to the very finest detail. We will also advise on space optimisation and are specialist in matching existing joinery in older properties.

Once you are happy with the design, our craftsmen will hand build and install your kitchen to your exact specifications.

WINDOWS
We manufacture to order all styles of windows from standard casement and tilting windows to traditional sash windows, with any bar, sill or head configuration, including irregular shaped, circular and arched designs.

We can produce rebates for double-glazing or single glazing – even triple glazing.

We are experts in matching existing designs and producing a variety of traditional styles, thanks to our huge library of cutters to match mould and shapes. Alternatively, we can manufacture new moulds to customers’ own requirements. This is ideal for period properties or extensions.

All our window and door frames are preservative treated softwood, generally quality redwood, or hardwood including oak, iroko and other timbers from managed resources.

We can supply our windows unfinished, primed, hand painted or stained in controlled factory conditions. We can even supply pre-glazed windows.


DOORS
Our internal and external doors, including French doors and patio doors, sidelights or even garden gates, are manufactured from solid wood in a number of timber species, both preservative treated softwood and hardwood.

Our craftsmen offer professional advice on the choice of timber and will design and make doors of any size and style. We can also match existing doors in terms of style, colour and timber.

They are all traditionally made: external doors are all mortise and tenon jointed for strength and stability and all softwood doors are preservative treated before assembly.

Doors can be supplied unfinished, primed, hand painted or stained in controlled factory conditions. We can also supply doors pre-glazed and fitted with a choice of locking systems. We also manufacture door frames.

BESPOKE JOINERY
As skilled and experienced joiners, we manufacture a huge range of purpose made and individually designed joinery. From staircases to traditional handmade interiors, including built in wardrobes, radiator cabinets, office and study furniture to conservatories and outbuildings, from a duck house to stables and garaging.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Gainsborough Joinery is committed to operating in an environmentally friendly manner and takes positive steps to minimise the environmental impact of its operations and products. We purchase a majority of timber from suppliers who hold a Chain of Custody certificate. These certificates may only relate to the forest and not the actual processing mill. Such certification is linked to FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) registration controlling the sourcing of timbers from managed forestry facilities, where plantation programmes ensure the replenishment of new trees long before harvested timber has reached the end of its life cycle.
